WhatsApp Voice Calling feature officially confirmed for Windows Phone and Andriod users, rollout imminent

WhatsApp for Windows Phone

The much expected voice calling feature on WhatsApp is now active for Android smartphone users. This functionality is also expected to reach users of Apple's iOS within the next couple of weeks.

Now, in a new development, there is confirmation that the Voice Calling feature will be rolled out to Windows Phone users as well.
According to a WMPowerUser report, that quotes an official email sent out by folks at WhatsApp's customer support team, the Voice Calling feature will officially be released to Windows Phone users just like their Android counterparts. However, there is no indication of a timeline for the rollout.

The email from WhatsApp's support team (apparently sent out to a Windows Phone user) also mentions that the highly anticipated feature is currently being fine-tuned and customised by engineers at WhatsApp for Windows Phones.

Windows Phone users can expect the WhatsApp Voice Calling to reach them in the near future and there is every possibility that the feature will reach them alongside that of the release to iOS.

Hence, users on Windows Phone are advised to download the latest variant of WhatsApp from the official Windows Phone Store, and let us know regarding the rollout of the Voice Calling feature.

How to make voice calls via WhatsApp on Android

Download the latest version of WhatsApp messenger for Android (version 2.12.19) from the official website.

Check out for a brand new user interface (UI).

Verify the presence of a new Calls tab.

Navigate to the new Calls tab, and make calls to specified contacts/friends while chatting or by just browsing through the list of WhatsApp contacts.

Do remember that your WhatsApp contact/friend needs to have installed the latest version of WhatsApp compatible with the Voice Calling feature. Else, you will receive a customised warning.

When you call a user who is offline, you will hear the phone ring. If the person you are calling does not pick up, he or she will receive a notification for the missed call.
